All service members currently covered for up to $400,000 worth of Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (SGLI) can convert to Veterans' Group Life Insurance (VGLI).

Converting to Veterans Group Life Insurance (VGLI)

• You can convert from SGLI to VGLI within 1 year and 120 days of separation
• There is no proof of good health required if the conversion is within 120 days (4 months) of separation
• This is lifetime renewable term coverage

Traumatic Injury Insurance

• Seriously injured Veterans can apply for Traumatic Injury Insurance (TSGLI)
• Effective 12/1/05 with retroactive provision for OEF & OIF Veterans with severe losses from a traumatic injury between Oct. 7, 2001, and Dec. 1, 2005.
• Payable to members who suffer a qualifying loss due to traumatic injury
• Rapid financial assistance program for service members and families during recovery
• Automatic with SGLI coverage
